RICHMOND, Va.
— As the first practice of the 2015-16 season approaches, the Washington Capitals and their trainers are still trying to decide how they’ll wear their new safety shoes.
The Capitals have been working out new pair for their players, and they are offering them to fans.
The players will wear them on their first practice this week, and will wear the new pairs again for the first two practices of the regular season.
“These are all really new, new-ish, new shoes, so they’re kind of like a hybrid between new and old,” head coach Barry Trotz said.
“So we’re going to give them to the fans and they’ll get a new set of shoes.”
The new safety pair is a bit different than the other new safety pairs that have been worn by the Capitals, the first being a pair worn by defenseman Matt Niskanen in 2013-14.
The new pair is designed with a bit of a different look than the one worn by Niskinen.
“I think the idea behind it is that you’re not going to see a lot of changes in the look of the shoe,” Trotz added.
“It’s not like it’s the same kind of design as the ones that were worn by Matt, and that’s part of what we’re trying to do with it.
But I think it’s an interesting, new, different look, and I think they’re going do a good job of fitting in with the new look.”
There are several different styles of the new safety shoe, and the ones the Capitals have worn so far are the new jumbojumbo.
They are a bit bigger than the normal safety shoes and are lighter in color.
There is also a heel flap, which allows players to slip in their foot on a surface and still feel secure in the shoe.
The other safety shoe is a new, much lighter and more comfortable version of the one the Capitals wore in 2013.
That safety shoe has a different design, and it also has a heel, and there are a lot more padding, which helps cushion the feet against impacts.
The new jumbos are a little bit more durable, but the heel flap and padding make them a bit more comfortable.
“You have to give the new ones a chance,” Troz said.
“(The Capitals) put a lot into them and made sure they were very durable.
I think a lot have been wearing the new one.
I mean, it’s going to be a tough test for us.
We’ve got to see how well it fits.”
Brazos and Jumbojbo will not be wearing the shoes for the preseason, but they will be wearing them at the beginning of the season.
Jumbojumbos will be available for purchase in store at the start of training camp and will be worn during games, which are part of the preseason.
