Puma, the American shoe company that was among the first to announce a partnership with the US government on Wednesday, has announced that it is launching its own line of safety footwear.
The shoes will be made by the Italian footwear company Bontrager and will include the brand’s signature Air Max x 2, which is now available in Canada and the US.
“Puma is proud to announce that we are going to bring our first pair of safety shoes to market,” said the Puma CEO, Scott Thompson, in a statement.
“We are bringing the best in the business to bear, from our patented technology and craftsmanship, to our incredible materials, design and manufacturing capabilities.”
The Puma brand also announced that the shoes will come in black and red.
In a statement, Puma’s vice president of public affairs, Joe Della Vecchia, said: “The partnership with Puma is a natural evolution of our business, where we want to empower consumers to make the best of their lives.
Our goal is to bring the best protection possible to the everyday people who wear them, and the world at large.”
Bontragers new Air Max X 2, pictured in the new AirMax X 2 collection, is currently available in the US and Canada.
While the Air Max is considered a minimalist, the new shoes are designed to be comfortable, light, and breathable.
They also feature a rubber sole for improved traction and a lightweight material for the sole to be more efficient.
Bontrs new line of shoes is expected to be available in mid-October.
