Fila, the world’s most expensive shoe brand, just dropped its safety and safety-themed shoes, which feature “the world’s finest leather and rubber” in a bold and daring fashion.
The “world’s finest” statement, says Fila’s brand director, Ben Cairns, is due to the company’s heritage as a pioneer in leather and its ability to handle extreme conditions.
“It’s not a matter of being the world champion, it’s about being the most respected, and the best-looking,” he said.
“There are a lot of people that are interested in our heritage, we have to go through the process of getting that to happen.”
The brand has been pushing the boundaries of safety for years, using innovative materials to create the world-class shoes.
In the late 1970s, the company began experimenting with the use of “diamonds and gemstones”, which the company claims are more resistant to wear than traditional materials.
It was around this time that Fila began to develop its own leather products.
Fila also experimented with leather shoes in a bid to create a leather-specific brand.
While the company has produced safety shoes for several decades, the new line features “world-class” leather, Cairn says.
Mack’s shoes are also made in a “sophisticated” and “unique” way, using a “plastic-free process”.
“They’re also a lot more durable,” he says.
“They’re not just going to fall apart.”
Filas leather shoes will be available for pre-order in August for $500, with a price tag of $7,000, while the “worlds finest” safety shoes will go on sale in January for $1,000.
