At least eight people were injured Sunday when a motorcycle crashed into a tree on a beach in Puerto Rico, authorities said.
The crash occurred near the San Juan island city of La Cruz in the north, the National Hurricane Center said.
Authorities said they were investigating whether the crash was a result of human error or a mechanical failure.
A motorcycle, which appeared to be stolen, struck a tree along the beach and overturned, the NHC said.
No one was injured, authorities added.
Puerto Rico is in the midst of a historic hurricane season, with winds of up to 120 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour) that have forced nearly 4 million people to evacuate.
The island is on the U.S. mainland, the U and Mexico border and the western Caribbean.
