The list of sneakers that were once synonymous with the brand that pioneered the style of high-top sneakers, the Dakota, has gone the way of the dodo, but the brand has a new addition to its list of signature sneakers: The safety-skewers.
The company is launching a new line of high heels called the Dakota Safety Skewers, a nod to the “Dakota” that appears on the sneakers.
The shoes will be released in January 2018 and the brand is hoping to take the style to the next level with the upcoming release of the Dakota Sports Skewer Series.
The sneakers will feature an all-new design with a suede upper and suede lining that will be inspired by the comfort of a true sports shoe, according to the brand.
“With our new Dakota Safety Style Skewering Series, we are offering a high-end version of the classic sport shoes that we’ve always loved.
The new style is meant to capture the comfort and style of the real thing,” said Todd Kline, chief marketing officer for the company.
“The comfort and durability of our signature Dakota Safety Shoes is built on the foundation of our durable suede and durable mesh lining, which means they’re both waterproof and breathable, and will also look great in a wide range of different styles and colors.”
In addition to the new Dakota safety footwear, the brand also announced a new collection of women’s shoes with the new model.
The line includes the Dakota Classic Sport, a new sport shoe that features a rubber sole, a leather upper and a synthetic liner.
The Dakota Classic will retail for $120 and will be available in four different colorways, including a limited-edition colorway in a black/blue, red/orange, navy/blue and white/black.
It will also be available at retailers in select markets and online starting January 24, 2018.
“Our new collection is all about bringing the Dakota style to new levels with a wide variety of colors, and our new Dakota Sports Skews are the perfect addition to our growing range,” said Kline.
The footwear will also feature an embroidered logo in black and a Dakota signature in the sole.
Nike, which owns the rights to the Dakota brand, recently announced plans to make a comeback of the brand’s signature shoe.
The brand said it will continue to release the shoes in limited numbers and will focus on developing new high-quality sneakers.
Nike said it is also working with Dakotas team of athletic trainers and fitness coaches to create new athletic footwear and accessories that will feature Dakotan-inspired materials and design elements.
